Major Phil Brown, CD (Retired) 

BROWN - Major (Ret) Phil, born in Stamford, England on 18 February 1925. Phil emigrated to Canada in 1933 and joined his mother in Wells BC. It was there he learned his woodman's skills and his love of the outdoors. He joined the RCAF in 1942 where he graduated as a pilot. While training flight crews in Calgary he met Connie, the love of his life. They were married on 3 February 1946. After a brief stint on Civie Street he rejoined the RCAF as a Fire Fighter. He rose through the ranks, was commissioned and finished his service in 1975 as the senior Canadian Forces Fire Marshal. In retirement, Phil and Connie built their own log home and enjoyed an active role in the Crescent Beach/Ocean Park Volunteer Fire Hall and the Peace Arch Shrine Club. Phil lost his beloved Connie in 1994 and his son Geoff in 2002. In the early morning hours of October 14th Phil died peacefully in the home he loved. He leaves behind his daughter Wendy (Verne) and grandsons Aaron and Adam, and daughter-in-law Judy. A service of memory will be held at Victory Memorial Park Funeral Centre, 14831 - 28th Ave., Surrey at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 21, 2005.
