CWO (Ret) Leslie 'Les' Duguid, CD
DUGUID, Leslie H. (Les) died
peacefully with his family at his side on Monday, February 27, 2006 at the age of 85. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Mary; three daughters: Joanne McVee
(Donald) of Kelowna, Patricia Durette of Kelowna, Heather Fleming of Abbotsford; six grandchildren: Kathy, Sandra, Adam, Dawn, Leigh-Anne, Graeme; five great
grandchildren: Richard, Peter, Geoffrey, Rebecca, Taylor; sister-in-law Bernice Archer of Kelowna; and numerous nieces and nephews. Les was born in Quill Lake,
Saskatchewan 27 July 1920 and grew up on a nearby farm. He joined the RCAF in 1940 and served during World War II with the Royal AIr Force Coastal Command as a Wireless
Air Gunner officer, flying out of Gibraltar and England. After the war he returned to Saskatchewan and took up farming again. Finding that too tame, he rejoined the RCAF
in 1948 as a Firefighter. He served as Station FIre Chief in Calgary, Chatham NB, Soest, Germany and North Bay, Ontario. He retired from the Air Force in 1976 as a
Command Chief Warrant Officer and moved to Kelowna. Les was a volunteer on the Rutland Citizens Patrol for ten years and an active member of the Rutland Parks Committee.
He will be fondly remembered by his many friends and neighbors on Sumac Road, as well as the members of the Rutland McDonalds Coffee Senate. A Memorial Service will be
held on Friday, March 3rd at 1:00 pm at the Chapel of Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna BC with interment to follow in the Kelowna Memorial Park
Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the BC Heart & Stroke Foundation, 201-1456 St Paul Street, Kelowna, BC, V1Y 2E6. Condolences may be sent to the
