Warrant Officer Donald Ferguson
Mr.
Donald Edward Ferguson
of Moose Jaw, passed away on Friday, April 20,
2001 from illness due to cancer. Don
was born September 15, 1940 in Peterborough, Ontario.
He grew up around Ajax, Ontario where his zest for life grew with him.
In 1960 he joined the military service.
With over 30 years of service as a firefighter, he achieved the rank of
Warrant Officer before retiring in 1990. After
a brief stint in Greenwood, Nova Scotia, Don and his wife returned to Moose Jaw
to set up permanent roots. It was
here where his love for life and companionship continued to thrive.
He was an avid golfer, who loved to spend his time at their home away
from home at Thompson Lake, enjoying the days with loving and devoted wife
Penny. It was her strength in his
low times, and his life was fulfilled because of her.
Don enjoyed spending his days with his friends and hobbies.
He was always busy, doing tasks for himself or others.
He was a loving father who enjoyed many activities with his
grandchildren. Don was a long time
member, including service on the Executive of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch
#59 Moose Jaw. He was a great man
that will be missed by many. Don is
survived by his wife, Penny; father,
Wellington Ferguson of Moose Jaw; son,
Mike (fiancé, Kerri) – Edmonton; daughter,
Susan (Doug) MacLean – Black Creek B.C.;
step-son, Dean Harper – Montreal;
step-daughter, Terry Anaker – Lloydminster, Alta.;
grandchildren: Tara,
Samantha, Keya, Julia, Owen, Wayne, and Athena.
He was predeceased by his mother, Jean and brother, Richard.
Funeral Services will be held at W.J.Jones & Son Funeral Chapel on
Wednesday April 25, 2001 at 1:30 pm. Reverend
Ian Payne will officiate. Royal
Canadian Legion Funeral Rites will be conducted at the chapel by Chuck MacMillan.
Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery.
Visitation for family and friends will be held Tuesday evening 7 – 9
pm at the Funeral Home. Memorials
to the Canadian Cancer Society, 223 Fairford St. E., S6H 0E1, the Moose Jaw
Health District Home Care, 455 Fairford St.E., S6H 1H3 or St.John’s Anglican
Church Memorial Fund, 124 First. Ave. N.E., S6H 0Y8, would be be appreciated.
