GIBBONS, Brian CD 1945 2008 With his loving wife, Yvonne by his side, Brian passed away peacefully January 6, 2008 in Victoria Hospice after a short battle with cancer. Brian is survived by his wife Yvonne, daughters Wendy (Rod), Kim (Roland), and grandsons Ryan & Cameron. He also leaves his parents Chuck and Ella Gibbons, and his siblings Rita, Lynn, Shannon, Keith, Erin and their spouses and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves his two sisters-in-law Linda and Doris and their families, along with his mother-in-law Beatrice. Brian served in the Canadian Armed Forces for 42 years, as a firefighter, an operating room technician, and with the Royal Canadian Air Cadets. He was best known in his career as The Warrant". After retiring from the armed forces, Brian worked at the Victoria General Hospital where his smiling face and outgoing personality showed daily with the colorful OR hats he wore. He was an active volunteer within all of the communities that he lived in. While living on the island, he was team driver for the Ford World's Curling Championships, as well as with the Emergency Management Program, and the Royal British Columbia Museum. He was a dedicated member of the Legion, the Air Force Officers Association, the Air Force Association of Canada and the Air Cadet League. Brian and Yvonne enjoyed travelling extensively and sharing their stories. His kindness and generosity will be greatly missed by those who have had the opportunity to know him. A celebration of life will be held Saturday January 12, 2008 at 1 pm at the Trafalgar/Pro Patria Legion at 411 Gorge Road East in Victoria.
