FR (Retired) Lloyd Jewers

JEWERS, Lloyd - 85, Dartmouth, passed away Friday, May 11, 2007, in Camp Hill Veterans' Memorial Building, QEII. Born in West Quoddy, he was a son of the late Daly and Adelaide (Boutilier) Jewers. Lloyd served during the Second World War from 1939-1945 in the Royal Canadian Navy and went on to become one of the first to join the DND Naval Fire Department in 1946. After his many years of service, Lloyd retired in April of 1983. His passions in life were spending quality time with his family and friends, and hunting and fishing. He was an active member of RCL Somme Branch for 31 years. He is survived by daughters, Diane (Bruce) Power, Dartmouth; Pamela (David) Pittman, Cole Harbour; son, Wayne (Patricia) Jewers, Lunenburg; sisters, Norma Balcom, Sheet Harbour; Helen (Fulton) Sellars, West Lawrencetown; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was recently predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Pauline (Hilchie) Jewers, and brother, Bruce. Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth. Interment in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens. Reception to follow.
