It is with deep sorrow that
the family of
Clarence
(Murph) Chamberlain announces his death on
March 21, 2001
, at the age of 82 years. His children,
Lynne
(
Wayne
Corkum
),
Scott
(
Brenda
) and
Colin
(
Debbie
) were at his bedside at
St. Vincent
's Hospital,
Ottawa
, and they mourn the loss of a wonderful father. He was predeceased by
his wife
Bette
(Gilchrist) in 1997 whom he loved and missed and is joined together with
after 55 years of marriage. Murph spent the four years of WWII in
England
and
Europe
with the RCASC and returned to join the Ottawa Fire Department. After
many years as a city firefighter, he joined the RCAF to continue his
love of the job at various locations in
Canada
. Murph subsequently joined the Public Service in
Trenton
,
Ontario
and worked at
Mountainview
,
Ontario
until his final retirement. Murph's will to live was not diminished by
the illnesses that robbed him of his voice and mobility for many years
and his quiet, gentle strength helped him to accept his restrictions.
Murph will be remembered as a loving and kind father and grandfather who
put his family before all else. The family wishes to thank the staff on

St. Vincent
's Hospital for the wonderful care and kindness provided during his last
year and especially during his final hours. Their commitment to his
comfort is appreciated beyond words. To his brother-in-law,
Roy
, thank you for the visits that made Dad smile. A memorial service will
be held at the Beechwood Cemetery Chapel,
280 Beechwood Avenue

Ottawa
, on
May 26, 2001
, at
2 p.m.
with internment following the service.
