Obituary - FR Hugh Wayne Mitchell

Mitchell, Hugh Wayne - 52, Fall River, Nova Scotia, died September 29, 2001, at home. Born in Middleton and raised in Margaretsville, Hugh was a son of the late Peggy (O'Grady) and Earl A. Mitchell. He was a long time member of the Fire Service. He was well recognized in children's fire prevention and established the childrens coloring book "Stop, Drop and Roll", now used worldwide, he was also a private co-owner of Novus the Windshield Specialists. He loved collecting antique bottles, coins and stamps. he enjoyed a wide variety of woodworking. Surviving are his wife, the former Carolyn Parker; stepmother, Dorothy Mitchell (Smith), Middleton; mother-in-law, Catherine Holt, Halifax; daughters, Nicole London England; Cathy, at home; sons, Robert (Jill), Bedford; Andrew, London, England; grandson, Logan; sister, Mary (Bill) Bell, Port George; brothers, Alan (sandra), Dartmouth; stepbrother, Stuart (Joan) Smith, Summerside, P.E.I.; stepsister, Donna (Norval) Higgins, Wolfville; sister-in-law, Sylvia, Meadowvale; Penny, Trenton, On; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sister, Kathy; brothers, Keith, Stephen and Scott. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 7 PM Wednesday in Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 77 Beaverbank Rd, Sackville. No flowers by request. Donations to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia or Watch Tower Society.
