Passing Of FR Russell James Andrews

ANDREWS, Russell James - 81, Elmsdale, Hants Co., passed
away Saturday, March 20, 2004, in Camp Hill Veterans' Memorial Building, QEII.
Born in Halifax, April 24, 1922, he was the son of the late John Patrick and
Dolly (Purcell) Andrews. Russell served with the RCASC, Canadian Tank
Transporter Company after which he worked as a firefighter with the Department
of National Defence for 34 years. Russell was a member of the Royal Canadian
Legion, Branch 133, Enfield. Russell enjoyed bowling, playing his guitar at
get-togethers with family and friends and golfing. He pitched softball for many
years in the local softball leagues and played hockey for Alexander McKay School
in Halifax. Russell enjoyed his "family" more than anything. Russell
leaves behind his wife, Gladys (Fortier); sons, Gary (Mary) Andrews, Lantz;
Craig (Denise), Nackawic, N.B.; daughter, Lee (David) Surrette, Bedford;
grandchildren, Randall, Hailey and Louise, Lantz; Melissa and Daniel,
Fredericton; Jennifer and Emily, Bedford; brother-in-law and sister-in-law,
Charles and Christina Fortier, Elmsdale, as well as many, many friends.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, memorial
mass 11 a.m. Wednesday, both in St. Bernard's Church, Father Raymond Mura
officiating. A reception will be held at the Legion. Burial at a later date.
