WOODS, Warren Bernard
— Passed away in the V.G.
Site QEII Hospital on July 5, 2009. Born in Halifax August 2, 1920, he was the son of Leo and Margaret (Lawrence) Woods. He was a veteran of the Second World War, serving
in the RCOC from 1942-1945. He was one of the last two remaining of the original Naval Firefighting Service which later became the DND firefighting service for 39 years.
He took great enjoyment in bowling, having bowled with the Knights of Columbus mixed league and recently with the seniors Thursday morning league at Halifax Fairlanes
where the bowlers called him "coach". He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Vimy Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion. He was a member of St. Joseph's Parrish for
most of his life, where he was very active in church functions. His homemade lemon pies were a hit with everyone. He was artistic, creating crafts, drawing and writing
poetry. He is survived by wife, Mary Kathleen "Mickey" with 65 years of a loving marriage; daughters, Nancy Sikorski , Judy (Johan) Post; grandchildren, Michael Collier,
Kelly (Brad) Trask and great-granddaughter, Jessica Elizabeth. He is also survived by his sister, Doris Timmins, Halifax; brother, Terry (Dorothy), Peterborough Ont.;
nephews, Lynn (Alda) Woods, Bob (Dorothy) Woods, Michael (Lou) Woods, all of Halifax; Terry Jr. (Lynn) Woods, Darrell (Marianne) Woods; nieces, Diane (Steve) Earl, Cathy
(Eric) Boyd, all of Ontario. He was predeceased by brother, Leo (Celie) Woods and Virginia "Ginny" Woods of Halifax.Visitation will be in J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 2666
Windsor St., Halifax from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday. Funeral service will be in St. Theresa's Roman Catholic Church, 1651 North St., Halifax on Thursday, July 9, at
10.30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the IWK Health Centre Foundation, Halifax.
